What challenges face a newborn generation?
How to rouse enragement and sow sensation?
When their senses have been senselessly stripped,
And their fresh innovations brutally whipped,
By the very ones who would claim to inform
And instil on them a feeling of sense and norm.

For we leave them to live with a twilight mind,
Bereft of goals and no enthusiasm of the kind
That brought us to the heavens and stars beyond,
And broke our allegiance to conformity's bond.
I fear for the day when we are left to rule this land
And unconsciously reach out to seek a guiding hand.

Though perhaps it is best and must always be so
That when our time is done we stand and we go,
Leaving our graced inheritance to revered antiquity
And erase from mind all traces of iniquity,
Knowing our age must face darkness again
Before we can see, on a far horizon, a new dawn of men.
